Oi mundo!

This week was a little tougher, but still miracles abounding. On Monday, Elder Lima hurt his foot pretty bad, so I thought we might have to take a few days off. He told me that he hates sitting around when there's work to be done, so off we limped! Thankfully his foot has been healing fast, thanks to a priesthood blessing and lots of prayers. His foot isn't purple on both sides anymore so that's good. Elder Lima is so passionate about missionary work, it's awesome. Every chance he gets he says how before the mission he would have asked God why this happened but now he has such a much better perspective and is so happy to continue being a missionary and teaching people, even though his foot hurts.

Super awesome big highlight of the week: I baptized someone!!! Surai was so prepared when we first met her. She read the pamphlets we use to help as we teach and took notes in them and the Book of Mormon without us even asking her! Her testimony after her baptism was super powerful, even though I couldn't understand all of it. She said the moment she got baptized she felt a super strong feeling of peace and a confirmation that this church is true. At the baptismal service, some other missionaries had the opportunity to baptize an entire family! That was super awesome to see. One of the greatest things about this gospel is how it brings families closer together and strengthens loving relationships in the family.

I could talk about that baptism for quite a while, it was such an awesome experience. We had lots of cake afterwards, so we were fed both physically and spiritually. Looking at the pictures, it's crazy to see that watch tan line, Elder Lima says I'm going to become an Angolan before I go home. We also had the opportunity to go to a ward activity later that day, and all the missionaries put on a short play for the church's "Light the World" campaign. Every year the church does this program, it helps us do simple things and activities to show Christlike love to those around us, and to be a light to others like Christ is to everyone. In Portuguese, it's called "Seja a luz do mundo" which I think translates more to "be a light to the world" which I like even more. This Christmas season we can choose to focus on our Savior's birth, and loving others as he loved, sharing our light with others through small and simple acts of kindness. I'm so thankful for my Savior and all he has done for me, his love for us is endless, it's something that I feel so much as a missionary every day.

Eu amo vocês! Até próxima semana!

Matthew 5:14–16
New Testament
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
