Mudanças e Metas

This transfer was a transfer of changes in our mission, although Elder Lima and I are still here in Patriota, we now have sister missionaries serving in our ward! They are from Mozambique and they are awesome missionaries. Another thing that changed, people have started to call me Angolan! I didn't think I was that tan yet, but there you go.

Highlight of the week, 11 people came to church this week! A lot of them were friends of members who brought them along, have I already said how much I love being a missionary and how much I love this ward? We are teaching so many amazing people right now, a lot of them have parents that don't want them to get baptized, but they continue to go to church and want to meet with us still. Elder Lima and I have our work cut out for us with all these people, especially in Dengereux, but it is so more than worth it to teach these awesome people and see the Book of Mormon and the Gospel of Jesus Christ change their lives. In the beginning of the week not much was happening, but we kept working, and then more people started talking to us, the people we were teaching started showing more interest, and came to church! I've been learning a lot about perseverance as a missionary, it's something we focus on a lot as we teach. Always putting the Lord first requires sacrifices on our part, but it will always be worth it in the blessings we will receive.

JAMES 5:11

“Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.”

Another awesome experience, Elder Lima and I were walking down a road in the rich part of Patriota that we don't usually walk, and a security guard stopped us to ask about our church. When we told him the name of our church and told him about it and gave him a restoration pamphlet, he said "I'm going to be a member of this church. Can you two put your number down so I can invite you to my wedding?" That was pretty insane, I love the people here, and they really want to learn more about what God has in store for them. Sadly that man doesn't live in our area, so we won't teach him, but I'll tell you all if we still get a wedding invite.

Today; we played basketball as a zone! Man that was fun, I miss basketball a little bit. Elder Kortsen is a giant, and he's really good, he'll play college ball after the mission. We teamed up to play against everyone else, so that was really fun. Since we were near our mission President's house, Sister Pinto made us lunch and cake, they are the most loving people in the world, and I’m so blessed to be able to serve here with them. Another highlight, we ate KFC today! They had a sale so it was only 4 or 5 dollars for a little meal, not bad, especially for around here.

I don't have a whole lot of time today, but I just want to say how much a love this mission. I've learned so much about the gospel and about myself. I can truly say that I am consistently and resiliently happy, and that this kind of lasting joy only comes from studying the Book of Mormon every day and truly living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Being able to share this happiness and joy with others is such a blessing in my life, it's something I'll never forget.

Mosiah 2:41 And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and ahappy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are bblessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out cfaithful to the end they are received into dheaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.

Eu amo voces!
