Semana Cinco
Another
crazy week at the MTC. Elder Gordon needed to get his eye checked out, and I
had to get an x-ray for my finger for a volleyball injury. Don't worry though,
nothing serious, the Lord definitely protects his missionaries. Elder Gordon
got some nice shades from that visit, so he got to show those off a bit. We
pretended he was blind and helped him walk to class, we got plenty of weird
looks as you might expect. It may not sound extremely fun, but we had a blast
doing that. Also, Elder Gordon and I have yet to receive our visas, so I might
be spending my first transfer serving the in the Spokane, Washington mission.
There's definitely not a lot of Portuguese speakers there, so I'll have to
study very diligently in the hour of language study that we are allotted in the
field. I'm starting to even think in Portuguese, so going to Spokane for 6
weeks might throw me off just a bit, but with the Lord's help, anything is
possible. I know wherever I am called to go I am called to serve the Lord and
those people, no matter where I am.
Even though I jammed my
finger playing volleyball, we play it every day for exercise time. Playing with
my left hand is a fun challenge, and we're all getting a lot better. Our Elders
in our zone have a real problem with getting hit in the face with volleyballs,
but thankfully no concussions have been suffered as of yet. (we're careful,
just unlucky) Also, some of the Elders in my zone thought it would be a good
idea to shave their legs. I can't say that I approve. I guess your idea of fun
can change after being here for a while. I still love all of the Elders in our
zone, but I question their judgment at times. Also, all the Elders in our
district got haircuts today, and well... I can't remember a time when my hair
has ever been this short. The sisters in my district said that they like my
hair shorter, so obviously I'm crushed and need a shoulder to cry on. Just
kidding, but I miss my blonder hair a bit, got to look the part though, T'chau
longer hair.
The MTC has truly been
amazing, I've grown so much spiritually since I've been here. Elder Gordon and
I were able to teach our district council about charity: the pure love of
Christ. Throughout the day, the topic of love and loving others kept coming up
in different meetings, as well as the Sunday devotional. I have been able to
feel Jesus Christ's love for me so much while I've been here, and I'm glad we
were able to focus on how we can show that same kind of love to others. I can't
wait to love and serve the people in my mission, whether it's in Spokane, or in
Angola. T'chau T'chau!
