Weekly Email (Tudo bem!)

I never liked being healthy anyways, it's too comfortable for me. If I'm not making any new antibodies how can I possibly be progressing? Okay I'll stop with the jokes, but yes Elder Gordon and I were sick this week, although Elder Gordon was worse for sure. We've been practicing staying positive so we've just been joking about how this is simply preparation for Angola and how we'd rather be sick. Trust me, I' much rather be healthy. My diet definitely doesn't help. The horror stories about the food at the MTC aren't true at all, but I swear the only vegetables I've seen on campus are lettuce and sometimes tomatoes in salads. Guess I should start eating some of the three year supply of vitamins I have stored up, but that would just make too much sense.(Just kidding, don't worry mom I'll be alright, and yes I started taking them today) Exercise time definitely isn't as fun when you and your companion just use it as a break to sit down for a while, still a fun week nonetheless.

We had our first holiday as missionaries, 4th of July! We talked about religious freedom with our zone before watching the fireworks. As soon as the fireworks started Elder Gordon got a migraine, so we went back so he could get some rest. Somehow, I think watching fireworks wouldn't help a migraine, and I got to see a few fireworks on our way back so it's all good, I've seen enough fireworks in my life anyway. As long as our immune systems are sufficiently prepared for the mission I think everything will be just fine.

Even being physically sick, we were spiritually strengthened plenty more. Our teachers and our district are wonderful, and the spirit on campus is unlike anywhere else. Sunday was fast and testimony meeting for church, and we got to hear the testimonies of the Elders and Sisters in our district that were native speakers of languages besides English. We heard testimonies in Spanish, Portuguese, French, Tongan, Samoan, German, and Tagalog. Many of these Elders and Sisters will be going to their missions this week, we will definitely miss them. The spirit was so powerful in that fast and testimony meeting, even if I couldn't understand the words, I could feel the spirit speaking to me. MTC president Lesuere and his wife were at our meeting, so that was pretty cool as well. Elder Gordon and I forgot to assign priesthood meeting lessons earlier in the week so we split up to teach both classes. Always learning how to be a better zone leader. Speaking of being a zone leader, we no longer are the zone that picks up the international Elders, which is kind of sad, but at the same time we get more time to study and to be with our district.

I invite you all to study the Book of Mormon, it has continued to bless my life here at the MTC. I'm still learning and growing every day, there is a long way to go. The word is true, the book is blue, and I've got work to do!
