Oi
pessoal!
Sorry for the lack of
an email last week, don't worry I am very much alive, I just forgot to write
last week. Most days as a missionary in quarantine are pretty much the same,
but we've been doing our best to be a light to others.
My favorite thing that
we've done here has definitely been service. Elder Armstrong and I volunteered
at Goodwill, helped a few people move, and helped a few members dig holes and
set up new fences over the last 2 weeks. One day in particular, we helped someone
move into her new apartment from 9am to 2pm, and since the other Elders aren't
as strong, Elder Armstrong and I got to carry all the heavy stuff. Then from 3pm
to 6pm, we helped a member of the church in our ward with his fence. Many trees
were near the boundaries of the yards, so we dug through lots of roots and
rocks. Needless to say,I slept very well that night, even with my back feeling
like it was on fire.
Transfers happened,
and Elder Armstrong and I will be blessed to stay here in Castle Rock, although
we won't have a car anymore, and I don't have a bike yet, so it might be harder
to go do service. That's a big bummer, I love being able to help members in our
ward and others in our community. One of my favorite scriptures found in the
Book of Mormon is Mosiah 2:17, which talks about service; "And behold, I
tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye
are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your
God".
As missionaries, our
goal is to invite others to come unto Christ. Whether we are teaching someone
about God’s commandments or mowing someone's lawn, we are helping others. As we
perform Christlike service for others, it will be easier for us to love each other
and view ourselves as we truly are, children of God. I invite you all to find
an opportunity to serve someone in your community or your family. No matter how
big or small the act of service, we can show our love for others and come
together through these selfless acts. Jesus Christ was our perfect example of
selfless love and service. As we strive to help others, we will become more
like him and have his light in our lives.
Amo vocês!!
