What a week! Spokane really is amazing

What a week! Spokane really is amazing. Even though we find some people that don't know much about us and hate us for no reason, most people in Spokane are really nice. There's so much that I could share from this week, so I guess I'll just pick a few highlights.

Elder Smith and I went on exchanges with our zone leaders on Friday. We had four lessons planned for that day, and I was in charge of our area, so that was kind of scary, but luckily Elder Sautter knows a lot more than me about anything and everything, so he helped me out a lot. On the way to one of our lessons, I crashed my bike at a stoplight, so that was some nice public humiliation. I ripped up my pants and my shirt and got some scrapes and bruises, but I wasn't about to miss any of our lessons, so I got up and biked on over. One of the people we were teaching gave me some iodine for the cuts, so I had to really try to not scream while putting it on. But to be honest, I hardly even thought about the crash, it was such a minor thing in terms of that day with the amazing messages we were able to share. And in the grand scheme of things, it matters even less. Right after my crash, we had a lesson with Dale and set a baptismal date for him for the end of September! My joy definitely outmatched my pain, and it wasn't even close. This work is so amazing my brothers and sisters.

Elder Smith is such an awesome trainer, we have a lot of fun and have seen a lot of miracles. A big one for example: we were completely out of food, and one night we heard a knock on our door late at night, so we decided not to answer it. When we opened the door in the morning, three boxes of food were on our doorstep. We still haven't figured who it was that gave us that food. Some of the other Elders told us they didn't give us food, but that they were praying that we would get some food somehow. Heavenly Father is always looking out for us, we just need to stop every once in a while, and recognize the miracles he has done for us in our lives.

On Saturday, our entire mission had the chance to hear from an Apostle of the Lord, Elder Gary E. Stevensen, as well as other mission leaders and general authorities (and we each got to shake their hands!). It was such an amazing day, the things they shared made me realize my purpose here on earth and especially at this time. Hearing them made me realize that I have a long way to go, but I'm so excited to be doing this work and to be able to stand as a representative of Jesus Christ.
